Last updated: March 2026

Agreement to Terms

In plain English: By using Timelinely, you agree to these rules. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

By accessing or using the Timelinely website at timeline.ly (the "Website" or "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Timelinely ("we", "us", or "the Operators") regarding the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Eligibility

In plain English: You must be at least 13 years old to use Timelinely.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Timelinely. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. See our Privacy Policy for details on children's privacy (COPPA).

Your Account

In plain English: Keep your login details safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Use real information when you sign up.

When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You may sign in using email and password, or through third-party providers (Google, Facebook). If you use a third-party login, you authorize us to access the basic profile information those providers share with us.

If we have reason to believe your account information is inaccurate or that your account is being misused, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate it.

What You Can Do

In plain English: Use Timelinely to create, share, and embed interactive timelines. You own what you create — we just need permission to host and display it.

Timelinely allows you to create interactive video timelines by combining videos, images, audio, text, and links. You may:

  • Create, edit, and delete timelines
  • Upload images, videos, and audio files
  • Publish timelines for public viewing
  • Embed published timelines on other websites
  • Use the AI Annotate feature to generate timeline suggestions
  • Download comments and analytics for timelines you own

Content You Upload

In plain English: You own your content. By uploading it, you give us permission to host, display, and distribute it as part of the service (like showing your published timeline to viewers). You promise that you have the right to upload what you upload.

You retain ownership of the content you upload to Timelinely. By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to the content you upload
  • Your content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
  • Your content complies with these Terms and all applicable laws

Prohibited Uses

In plain English: Don't upload anything harmful, illegal, or abusive. Don't try to break the site, scrape other users' data, or use it to spam people. We automatically scan uploads for harmful content and will block or remove violations.

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload or share content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, or otherwise objectionable
  • Upload content that exploits, harms, or endangers minors
  • Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
  • Scrape, collect, or compile other users' personal information
  • Send unsolicited marketing or spam to other users
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to violate any applicable law
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent content moderation or security measures

Content Moderation

In plain English: We automatically scan images you upload to check for harmful content. If something is clearly harmful, it gets blocked immediately. Borderline cases get flagged for our team to review. We can also remove any content that violates these terms.

Timelinely uses automated content moderation technology (AWS Rekognition) to scan uploaded images for potentially harmful content, including explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable material. Content that is identified with high confidence as violating our guidelines will be automatically blocked. Content flagged with moderate confidence may be reviewed by our team.

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, with or without notice. We are not obligated to monitor all content but may do so at our discretion.

AI Annotate Feature

In plain English: Our AI feature can suggest annotations for your videos. It's optional, and the suggestions are just that — suggestions. We're not responsible if the AI gets something wrong.

Timelinely offers an optional AI-powered annotation feature that generates suggested timeline items for your videos. This feature uses third-party AI services to analyze video content and produce suggestions. AI-generated annotations are provided as suggestions only and may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before publishing. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated suggestions.

Intellectual Property

In plain English: Timelinely's design, code, and branding belong to us. Your content belongs to you. Other users' content belongs to them. Respect everyone's rights.

The Service, including its design, features, branding, and underlying technology, is owned by Timelinely and protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or other brand features without our prior written consent.

You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service itself (as distinct from your own content on the Service) without our explicit permission.

Copyright Infringement

In plain English: If someone's using your copyrighted work on Timelinely without permission, let us know and we'll look into it.

If you believe that content on Timelinely infringes your copyright, please contact us at [email protected] with the following information:

  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • A description of where the infringing material is located on our Service
  • Your contact information
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf

Third-Party Content and Links

In plain English: Timelines may contain links to other websites and embedded YouTube videos. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites and embedded content from services like YouTube. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party content. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms and privacy policies.

Termination

In plain English: You can stop using Timelinely anytime. We can suspend or terminate your account if you break the rules. If your account is terminated, you may lose access to your content.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if your use is harmful to other users or the Service, or if required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may, but are not obligated to, retain your content for a reasonable period after termination.

Disclaimer of Warranties

In plain English: We do our best, but Timelinely is provided "as is." We can't guarantee it will always work perfectly, be error-free, or be available 100% of the time.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

Limitation of Liability

In plain English: If something goes wrong, our maximum liability is limited to $50. We're not liable for indirect damages like lost profits or data loss. We know this sounds harsh, but it's standard for free/low-cost services.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TIMELINELY AND ITS OPERATORS, AGENTS, AND SUPPLIERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50.00).

Indemnification

In plain English: If your use of Timelinely causes us legal trouble (e.g., you uploaded someone else's copyrighted work), you agree to cover our costs.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Timelinely, its operators, agents, and suppliers from any claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

In plain English: These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any legal disputes would be handled in U.S. courts.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in the United States.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent.
